Not all readers of my blog are subscribed to my newsletter. So here I will update as well.
-I’m working on making this website more easier on the eyes and readable.
-I’m adding more Bible study notes as I go. I’m currently working on a Chuck Missler study of Jeremiah and Lamentations. There are 22 sessions, and each session is about 1.5 hours long. I take notes as I listen and then rewrite the notes on Microsoft in an understandable format, then add them to the website. So, it will take a while. I’m also working on transferring my notes on the NakedBible Podcasts into post-able (legal) and readable format. This will all take a while, but slowly but surely you will see more and more get added on.
-My notes currently have PDF versions because I want them to be printable and downloadable for anybody, but even the PDF versions aren’t working the way I want them to. One must have a PDF reader to open them. I got this idea from Joel Richardson, who has PDF versions of all his notes and books. I will be working on making this easier for everybody. Somehow.
-I’ve made my blogs subscribeable so you can be notified as I post them if you want. I currently have two people that want me to keep posting, so that’s motivation enough to do so. It’s kind of cool.
-On April 4, if I haven’t heard from the last publisher I submitted to, I will begin the process of self publishing my books. Tamela Hancock Murray, my dream agent, read my entire first book and held on to it as she spoke to editors about it last year. She got back to me in December to tell me there is no market for Biblical Fiction, and so unless I had a huge following, it would be impossible to get editors or publishing houses to pick up. Two other agents told me the same thing. Since then, I’ve submitted to several small publishing houses who don’t need an agent, but so far have heard nothing except from one, who said there’s no market for this genre (Biblical Fiction). I’d have to be an already established author or have a huge social media following, which I don’t.
-Another author said that publishers are looking for more diverse and inclusive voices that appeal to more diverse and inclusive themes. I kind of got this feeling as I searched for literary agents and publishers. My book is very biblical and has a lot of God in it, which even in Christian circles is a little taboo. Most Christian fiction now days are only about Christian themes, and God is far in the background if mentioned at all. My second book is even more controversial because of my Moses and my characters don’t hold to the mainstream Christian Fiction character model (to be honest, though, neither does the Bible).
-I can’t keep waiting around. I feel God will return soon, and so I must get my books out, even if they only get read by a few. This will be a process, but probably quicker than if a publisher picked it up.
