Many things God has created to calm our nerves when restless include: the sound of trickling water (add to that a visual of a stream), the sound of rain on leaves, the sound of the waves. Birds chirping and night bugs. Stand beneath a vast sky of stars or on an empty beach overlooking the ocean. Stand on a mountain top.
Of course, the best way is to “strengthen oneself in the Lord,” which is exactly what David did when he had to rescue his people from the Amalekites. That means: remembering what God has done in your life and remembering God’s words. Dwell on His truth. David does this in almost all his psalms when he’s crying out to God.
My latest go-to is harp music. I like to pretend I’m in King David’s palace, listening to it. Many people play to the beat of the Psalms, which is astounding in itself. Yes, the Psalms are written as songs and people have found how to read the music in them. (for example, the Psalms of Ascent are what the people of Isreal sang when ascending toward the temple on their pilgrimage days or even when traveling with the tabernacle).
I want to go to Isreal so bad and visit the wall while The King’s Harpists are playing. Can you imagine? One day I will go, even if that’s on the other side of death.
Did you know that singing and music worship was mainly started by King David? He started 24/7 worship at his tent for the ark when he became king, and ever since then it has been a regular thing.

Shir Lama’alot (Psalm 121- a Psalm of ascent) sang by combat soldiers after Oct 7. It gives me chills every time I watch it, and I makes me want to pray for Israel because I know what’s coming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0CxRQaFjgE&list=PL5Dfc4IoQAb873dI1TI6Z5lcS7BRgW9mS&index=2&pp=gAQBiAQB8AUB
